I Thirst
by lydia huang
When Thou saidst, “Seek ye My face,” my heart said unto Thee, “Thy face, Lord, will I seek.” - Psalm 27:7-9
In an empty chapel, I sit before Thee
The Beloved and the Lover
Meeting You face to face, on my knees
Before You and no other
I come humbled and contrite, with my dreams and plans
Knowing that on the other side of prayer is
A life that’s more grand
Than I could ever think of
Than life I could ever know
A life so beautifully set in stone
One only You could unfold
See, I know You’re here somewhere
Your heart, this only do I seek
Your heart of gold, your relentless love
Your everlasting peace
You are the treasure above all treasures
This priceless jewel I’ve found
Your paths are good and true, I know
Your goodness, to what could amount?
To what can I compare this,
This mysterious faith with which I oft grapple
Some things I do not claim I know
But God you’ll always find me
Right here,
In this empty chapel
